Spring grocer sues Center Point Energy over fallen telephone pole
A Spring grocery store is suing over claims a fallen telephone pole caused the store to lose electricity and merchandise.
Gerland's Food Fair filed a lawsuit on Aug. 2 in Harris County District Court against Center Point Energy, citing negligence.
The suit alleges that on Sept. 13, 2011, a telephone pole fell and knocked out power to Gerland's Food, located at 1420 FM 1960 West in Spring. The accident, which caused store merchandise to spoil, happened after Center Point allegedly did nothing to fix the leaning pole, even after the company had been warned it was about to fall, according to the brief.
Gerland's Food Fair is seeking damages and court costs. It is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Marty Herring.
