Officials urge residents to avoid flooded roadways
Harris County officials have issued a new flash flood warning Friday, July 13 and are urging residents to stay away from flooded roadways.
Officials recommend allowing for more travel time and planning to drive at a slower pace when the roads are wet.
Other tips include braking with less force than normal to increase the stopping distance, avoiding the crossing of flooded areas, turning on headlights, watching out for pedestrians and giving trucks and buses extra distance.
Whenever drivers or walkers approach a flooded roadway, officials recommend turning around to avoid a hazardous situation.
