Klein Independent School District Secondary Principal Randy Kirk was named the 2012 Principal of the Year.

Throughout his career with Klein ISD, Kirk has been a teacher, assistant principal, associate principal, principal and was even a former student, according to a press release.

According to the press release, Kirk said he never planned on being involved in the education field, despite the fact that his father, mother and brother all worked in education. Instead, Kirk had intended on becoming a lawyer, but when his acceptance to law school was misplaced by the mail, he had moved back to Houston and committed to coach and teach after graduating from college.

"I love my job," Kirk said in the press release. "It's unbelievable working in Klein because I get to not only work with some really outstanding individuals, but I've also been blessed to have had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some incredible administrators, teachers and innovators in this field."

Kirk graduated from Klein High in 1984. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, where he played football for the Red Raiders, and then received his master’s from Prairie View A&M University, the press release stated.

He's been married to his wife, Dawn, for 16 years and has two children.
