Spring Walmart accused of botching oil change, ruining engine

Nationwide Mutual Insurance is suing Wal-Mart over claims an employee at its Spring location botched a routine oil change.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, as subrogee of Carlton and Wanda Cooper, filed a lawsuit on Monday, May 14 in the Harris County District Court against Wal-Mart, citing negligence.

The plaintiffs say on March 3, a Spring Walmart mechanic destroyed the engine of their vehicle during an oil change. The mechanic allegedly failed to replace the dip stick, which caused the oil to drain out and lock up the car engine, according to the brief.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Irving attorney Lisa Chastain.
