Sugar Land woman accuses Spring entrepreneur of fraud

A Sugar Land woman is suing over claims entrepreneurs from Cy-Fair, Kingwood and Spring swindled her out of $75,000.

Sugar Land resident Yolanda Speaker filed a lawsuit on April 27 in the Harris County District Court against Fifth Avenue Records, 12802 Willow Centre, William Burnell, of Cy-Fair. Eric Parish, of Kingwood, and Kirk Paschal, of Spring, citing fraud and violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, among other things.

Speaker says on Nov. 11, 2009, the defendants tricked her into investing $75,000 into their alleged sham real estate business. Since then, Speaker has not received any payments for net profits or a return on her investments, according to the brief.

The suit alleges the defendants continue to ignore her requests for payment.

Speaker is seeking attorney's fees, damages and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Stafford attorney Deborah Crain.
