Murder suspect commits suicide
Houston Police are reporting the suicide of a man they say killed his girlfriend on April 1.
Alan Erskine, 38, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after being charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Lavandra Stevens, 24.
Stevens was killed in her 50 W. 34th St. apartment. Police say Erskine reported her death via 911 and left the scene.
On April 4, police detectives and members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force tracked Erskine to the Canfield Lakes Apartments at 13350 Northborough Drive. Police say they saw Erskine shoot himself at around 1 p.m.
