AT&T accused of contaminating groundwater throughout Harris County

AT&T is being sued over claims its underground gas tanks, located in Bellaire, Memorial, Montrose and Spring, leaked toxic chemicals into the groundwater of Harris County, threatening the safety of residential drinking water.

Harris County filed a lawsuit in Harris County District Court against AT&T Services, and others, citing numerous hazardous material management violations and negligence per se.
 
Harris County says AT&T admitted that 34 of its underground storage tanks, containing gasoline and other hazardous materials, leaked and that 13 of those tanks contaminated area ground water, including an area near the public drinking water well of a church.

According to the brief, these leaking gas storage tanks are scattered throughout Harris County, including 3925 Campbell Road in Memorial, 2807 Travis St. in Montrose, 6500 W. Loop South in Bellaire and 1935 Holzwarth Road in Spring.

Harris County is seeking damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. It is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Rock Owens.
