Football: Lions find roar again
Dave Campbell's Texas Football is an awesome magazine, and they were right when they predicted that no team is truly safe (in District 13-5A), and that the margin of error between the top half and the bottom is very slim," Spring coach Sam Parker said, "and despite our eighth-place pick, we feel like we can factor into it. Seniors James Turner (middle linebacker), Marquis Christian (safety) and Jason Jeffries (left tackle), junior right tackle Austin Wright and sophomore quarterback Darius Campbell (11-of-16 passing for 150 yards and a touchdown and 92 rushing yards and two scores on 19 carries) came up big against Tomball according to Parker, as did sophomore running back Doroland Dorceus (155 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 attempts and two receptions for 20 yards). The Bearkats posted a 3-0 predistrict record with wins over Aldine 28-13, Katy Taylor 14-8 and Kingwood 34-13, but a 7-2 deficit in turnovers has been a key part of the 0-2 league start.
