Westfield grad Crow scores career-high 21 in Sam Houston season opener
Former Westfield High School star and current Sam Houston senior forward Josten Crow scored a collegiate career-high 21 points and compiled 13 rebounds during a 72-49 home opener blowout victory in Huntsville Saturday.
Crow also was aware of things the Bearkats need to work on while complimenting the positive. "We hard pressed a little bit and that can happen in the first game, but the most important thing is that we got the win."
He went on, "We missed some free throws and had some turnovers, but that happens sometimes. For the most part, we played team defense, we played hard and together, and we can build off that."
The 6-foot, 4-inch, 210-pound Crow also had five steals, three assists and one block during the victory.
He averaged 9.1 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game his senior season for the nationally ranked Westfield Mustangs and was named Defensive MVP by teammates while also being selected to his second consecutive all-district first team.
A dominant defender Crow was also second nationally in assist/turnover ratio (3.3) last season.
Sam Houston (2-0) plays Texas in Austin on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m.
