Spring Westfield grad catches five passes for Houston Cougars
Spring Westfield HS 2007 graduate Kierrie Johnson was a beast through the air for the Houston Cougars on Saturday.
Johnson caught five passes for 140 yards and one touchdown in the Houston Cougars 28-25 loss to Tulsa on Saturday.
In the fourth quarter, Johnson caught a 66-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 28-25 with 12:16 remaining in the game. Houston had opportunities to take the win, but couldn't capitalize.
The senior sociology major is the son of Jacqueline and Eric Johnson Sr.
At Westfield HS, Johnson was named to the All-District 22-5A first-team at receiver as a senior after helping lead the team to an 11-1 record and a berth in the regional semifinals. Johnson also competed on the track and field team in the long jump and triple jump, earning the District long jump championship.
Houston will travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to take on Southern Miss on Saturday, Nov. 20. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m. CST and will be televised on CBS College Sports.
