Klein Forest grad looks to impact Wichita State this season
Klein Forest High 2008 graduate Toure' Murry is looking to take the Wichita State Shockers basketball team to new levels this season.
Murry, a 6-foot, 5-inch junior guard, is one of four Shocker starters returning and the team's leading returning scorer. Murry averaged 11.9 points per game last year.
The son of Kennith and Carolyn Murry, Murry earned a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Defensive team last season.
During his WSU career, Murry has developed a knack for game-winning shots and created a versatile offensive game.
At Klein Forest he was named first team all-district, second team all-state and first team all-region during his senior year. He averaged 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and one steal per game and led the Golden Eagles to the state semifinals his senior year.
Murry wants to improve his outside shooting this season. He made 32.1 percent of his threes as a freshman and upped that to 33.1 percent last season.
Murry's full name is Toure' Ahmad Khalid-Murry. He has two brothers, Nile and Yanick, and a sister, Malaika. Nile played basketball at TCU and currently plays overseas, while Yanick played at Kentucky Wesleyan.
Murry also was recruited by Bradley, Tulane and Fresno State.
