Volleyball preview: Spring v. Klein Collins
The Spring Lions visit the Klein Collins Tigers in District 13-5A volleyball action on Tuesday.
Spring won their last match over Spring Westfield in three games, 25-16, 25-14, and 25-20. The victory lifted Spring to an 8-17 overall record and a 4-7 district mark. The Lions were led by senior Lauren Thompson, who had six kills.
Senior Devon Valdes added 11 digs for Spring.
Sydney Alexander, a junior, leads Spring with 64 kills and a 1.78 kill per game average. Senior Ali Plyler leads the club with 54 assists on the season.
Klein Collins won their last match in four games over Tomball, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, and 25-17. The win pushed The Tigers’ record to 20-14 overall, and 8-3 in district play.
Collins was led by 6’4’’junior Molly McCage, who had 11 kills. Amy South, a 5’8’’ junior paced the Tigers with 42 assists in the match.
Klein Collins has four players with at least 100 kills. Chelsea Rekieta is the leader with 270 kills on the year. Heidi Otto, a 6’1’’junior, is second on the squad with 230 kills.
Tuesday’s match is slated for 6:30 p.m.
