Spring couple sued for alleged failure to pay homeowner dues
A homeowners’ association is suing Spring property owners for $2300 after the couple allegedly failed to pay $200 in maintenance fees.
The Champions Point Village Section Three Homeowners’ Association filed the suit against David Bernard Douglas and his wife, Suzette Ann Douglas, Sept. 24 in Harris County District Court.
The homeowners’ association claims the defendants failed to pay maintenance fees on their property on Forest Bridge Way in Champion Point Village.
The Champion Point Village Homeowners Association argues that, as owners of the property, the couple is required to follow certain covenants established by the HOA. Under those covenants, the Douglases agreed to pay annual assessments, special assessments, interest, costs and attorney fees.
According to the petition, the Douglases owe the Champion Point Village Section Three HOA $204 – a total that includes delinquent maintenance fees, late charges, collection costs and interest.
The HOA is asking to be awarded the past due amount along with $2100 in costs and fees required to take legal action against the Douglases for non-payment.
Attorney Robert North of North Law in Houston is representing the Champions Point Village HOA.
