Spring ISD approves new school boundary

The Spring ISD school board approved the new boundary for Gloria Marshall Elementary School, which opens in August 2010.
Marshall is being constructed within the current attendance zone of Burchett Elementary School.
The new boundary will affect Anderson, Burchett, Hirsch and Smith elementary schools. Breckenridge Forest, Trails of Timberlane (also know as Cypress Trails), Spring Crossing and East Timberlane subdivisions and Timber Run and Windsong Village multi-family dwellings will be zoned to Marshall Elementary. Part of Postwood and part of Greengate Place will be zoned to Burchett.
Porter said the committee was made up of 65 community members. The committee began meeting in September to develop options that were presented to the community for input at two forums and in an online survey. After reviewing and considering the feedback from the community, the committee presented Option B to the school board for approval on Nov. 10.
